I build and study learning systems that make intelligent decisions — from novel metrics for evaluating RL algorithms, to agents that tackle complex spatial design and layout optimisation problems in building engineering.
I am a Reinforcement Learning Engineer at AECOM's AI for Engineering team, where I am developing RL agents for complex spatial design and layout optimisation problems in building engineering. I completed my PhD in Computer Science at the University of Sheffield (2026), where my thesis introduced novel multi-faceted metrics for evaluating and comparing RL algorithms — a foundational open problem in modern AI.
My research sits at the intersection of reinforcement learning, robotics, and optimal transport. I am interested in how we measure, compare, and understand the learning behaviour of autonomous systems — and how that understanding can be applied to real engineering challenges. I hold a Fulbright Scholarship (Tennessee Tech, MSc Robotics) and an EPSRC Doctoral Training Partnership Scholarship (Sheffield, PhD CS). I have three patents, two peer-reviewed publications in top venues, and open-source research code used by the community.
I find thrill in "understanding the unknown" — what you might call discovery — and then creating resources from imagination, which you might call invention. Beyond research, I care deeply about making AI more diverse and accessible: I have served as IEEE Entrepreneurship Ambassador, EDI Committee PhD Representative, and am a member of the BlackInRobotics network. My hobbies include drawing, painting, creative writing, and attempting stand-up comedy.
